Context

Volvo Cars France, a major player in the premium automotive sector, wants to establish itself in the highly competitive market for electric and hybrid vehicles (SUVs, saloons, estate cars). ESV Digital is supporting Volvo in its digital conquest strategy, with a particular focus on search engine optimisation (SEO) and, more recently, on generative engine optimisation (GEO) to anticipate new uses related to generative AI (LLM).

Objectives

  • Dominate strategic search intentions: Position template pages (EX30, EX40, EX90) and category pages on highvolume queries without brand names (e.g. ‘electric SUV’, ‘hybrid car’).
  • Strengthen domain authority: Increase the site’s SEO power through a strategy of acquiring quality backlinks and netlinking.
  • Anticipate tomorrow’s search: Ensure Volvo’s visibility in responses provided by LLMs (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity).

Achievements

  • Deployment of a siloed content strategy (Semantic Cocoons): Creation of expert articles (e.g. ‘What is the best hybrid estate car?’) to boost the power of product pages and capture intentional traffic.
  • Authority optimisation (Netlinking & Backlinks): Targeted backlink campaign on influential media to break through the ‘glass ceiling’ of page authority and stabilise positions in the face of aggressive competition.
  • Implementation of GEO monitoring: Analyse and optimise the brand’s presence within generative AI.
